How to Maintain Your Permanent Makeup:
Permanent makeup is a game-changer—whether it's microbladed brows, tinted lips, or eyeliner that never smudges. But while the results are designed to last, they’re not entirely maintenance-free. With the right care, you can extend the vibrancy and precision of your look for years. Here’s how to make your investment go the distance.
☀️ 1. Shield Your Skin from the Sun
UV rays are the enemy of pigment. Sun exposure can cause fading and discoloration over time.
Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily on treated areas.
Wear hats or sunglasses for extra protection.
Avoid tanning beds and prolonged sunbathing.
🧴 2. Follow Aftercare Instructions Religiously
The healing phase is critical. What you do in the first few weeks sets the tone for how well your makeup settles.
No steam/sweating the first 7 days (saunas, jaccuzzi, gym etc)
Sleep on your back or side, not on your face! Clean pillow case recommended
No makeup on the area the first 7-10 days
Only use recommended moisturizer 2-3 times a day
Wash twice a day with recommended soap
Avoid sun exposure or self tanning the first 10 days
🧼 3. Be Gentle with Skincare Products
Harsh ingredients can accelerate fading.
Skip retinol, glycolic acid, and exfoliants near treated areas.
Use gentle, fragrance-free cleansers.
Avoid chemical peels or laser treatments unless cleared by your technician.
💧 4. Hydrate Inside and Out
Dry skin can make pigment look dull and uneven.
Drink plenty of water daily.
Use a non-comedogenic moisturizer on the treated area.
Consider a humidifier during dry seasons.
🗓️ 5. Schedule Touch-Ups Wisely
Touch-ups help maintain shape and color but shouldn’t be overdone.
Wait at least 4–6 weeks before your first touch-up.
12-24 months for color boosts.
Consult your technician if you notice uneven fading or color changes.
Avoid DIY fixes—professional adjustments are key.
💉 6. Time Botox and Fillers Carefully
Injectables can shift facial contours, affecting the symmetry of your permanent makeup.
Ideally, get permanent makeup before Botox or fillers.
If you’ve already had injectables, inform your technician so they can adjust accordingly.
🚫 7. Avoid Scratching or Rubbing
Even after healing, friction can wear down pigment.
Be mindful when cleansing or applying skincare.
Avoid aggressive facial treatments on or near the area.
